Hi Blue Devils! Happy Friday! We hope you're all doing well and enjoying the start of fall. We're super excited to announce that next week we will be celebrating FGLI week with a range of events that include free merchandise, food, and lots of fun. You might be wondering, what exactly is FGLI, and how did it come about? Let us give you a brief rundown:
The First-Generation College Celebration has been held annually since 2017 to honor the passing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. This act increased access to higher education for low-income and first-generation students. The celebration commemorates the significance of this act for these students and raises awareness of what it means to be FGLI (first-generation, low-income). FGLI awareness week will take place from November 6th to November 10th. During this week, we will be hosting several events. We encourage you to stop by and meet other students, and enjoy the events. You can register for the events in advance through Duke Groups. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at Dukelifeorg@gmail.com or reach out to us on Instagram @dukelifeorg. A description of each event is provided below:
